GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — The Gwinnett County Public Schools recently reminded parents about some upcoming make-up days due to inclement weather over the past school season. The school calendar includes three inclement weather make-up days. Because school was cancelled for bad weather in September, the following inclement make-up days will be school days: Friday, Feb. 23; Friday, March 9; and Friday, March 23.
The wintry blast that hit metro Atlanta this month led to Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) using three Digital Learning Days. These days allowed GCPS to continue teaching and learning even though students and staff members could not safely travel to school. As a result, these days will not have to be made up.
However, the three school days missed in September due to Irma-related weather will be made up using the three make-up days that were built into the 2017-18 school calendar. As a result, those designated days— Feb. 23, March 9, and March 23— will now be school days.
In looking at the calendar, parents will want to note that Friday, Feb. 9, will remain a student/teacher holiday. In addition, Monday, Feb.19, will remain a student holiday/teacher staff development day.
